Frequently Asked Questions about Rhythmic Gymnastics
Beginners always start with a trial class. Based on age, experience, and coach evaluation, we’ll recommend the best fit:
If you’re not sure, book a Beginner trial and our coaches will guide you to the right program.
- Beginner – once a week, for kids new to rhythmic
- Pre-Team – twice a week, by invitation after evaluation
- Xcel (4 → 1) – skill-based groups with increasing commitment; some compete
- Levels 3–4 – competitive track, higher time commitment

Yes! Our beginner programs are specifically designed for children who are completely new to rhythmic gymnastics.
- Beginner: Classes start at age 4. We offer groups for ages 4–6 and 6–12.
- Intermediate: Classes are for ages 7-12.
- Pre-Team: For ages 5–8. It’s a non-competitive group that builds strength and fundamentals. Placement is by coach invitation.
- Xcel: Open to gymnasts ages 8–15. Xcel 4 is the entry level (often around age 9) and can lead to competition in Xcel 3, 2 and Xcel 1.
To book a free trial class, start by creating an account in our parent portal. From there, you can view the schedule for both our Santa Clara and Redwood City locations and select the beginner class that best fits your child’s age and availability. After registering, you’ll receive confirmation for your trial spot.
Trial classes are free. We recommend wearing comfortable athletic clothes (leggings, leotard, or t-shirt and shorts) and bringing a water bottle. After the trial, if your child enjoyed the class, you can easily continue by enrolling through the same portal.

We recommend form-fitting athletic clothes that allow free movement, such as a leotard, leggings, or shorts with a t-shirt. Long hair should be tied back in a bun, and short hair in a ponytail. Please avoid skirts and dresses. Gymnasts typically wear rhythmic half-shoes, but socks are fine for the trial class. And don’t forget a water bottle!

Yes, our Redwood City gym is a quick 10-15 minute drive from San Mateo, Palo Alto, and surrounding Peninsula cities.
We understand that sometimes a class may be missed. For our Beginner and Xcel programs, one make-up class per month is allowed. A make-up token is automatically created in the parent portal when a class is missed, and it must be used within 30 days. Make-ups should be scheduled within the same month if possible. Unfortunately, make-ups are not available for competitive groups, and we cannot offer make-ups for breaks or canceled classes.
